What is an Engine Diagnosis (ED)? |
|
|
An Engine Diagnosis does not mean adding oil or fuel. It is a physical and chemical analysis of engine lubricant oils performed by the IESPM laboratory, leader in its field. This method has been used by professionals for over 40 years to
diagnosis the health of an engine byanalysing the oil it uses. Like blood in the body, lubricant oil in an engine carries information on mechanical behaviour: moderate or severe wear, good or poor tuning, etc. Whenever an engine is running, the oil picks up metal particles in movement and contaminants such as dust, water, fuel or cooling fluid. |

Le Engine Diagnosis (ED): a medical technique? | |

When your doctor hesitates before giving a diagnosis, he or she may prescribe you a blood test to remove any uncertainties. The job of our laboratory is the same as a medical laboratory's but what it analyses is an oil sample you have taken from your engine and sent to us. Then, like the doctor does, we read the results of the laboratory analysis to ascertain your engine's state of health. |

What is the procedure? | |
|
When a vehicle has an oil change or an inspection, its owner takes a sample of the old oil and sends it to the laboratory, along with an information form which must be completed for the diagnosis to be accurate.
Next our laboratory runs over 20 different tests on each oil sample
to ascertain the quality of the oil, detect any metals and contaminants and pinpoint sources of current and future problems.
We then send you a full report of the analysis. This report gives the details on: -
tuning quality (ignition, carburetion and injection) -
air and water circuit sealing -
general state of wear in the top and bottom engine -
abnormal amounts of deposits. It informs you, if necessary, of any repair work you should plan to have done to your engine. |

|
|
ED can be used for any diesel, petrol or LPG engine, excepting aeroplanes: :
