Lubricant analysis to prevent mechanical malfunction

THE LUBRICANT should be considered as a real unit with several functions:
- it limits wear,
- it helps to cool,
- it helps to seal,
- it protects from corrosion.

EQUIPMENT : the main concern of the industrial, maintenance team or user is for their stationary equipment or vehicles to be in good working order. Analysis of the working lubricant is a good method which answers your requirements quickly and cheaply.

LIFETIME: the manufacturer's data tells us that every equipment and engine has its own life expectancy. This potential will change throughout its life due to:
- how the lubricant performs,
- component wear,
- operating conditions,
- the equipment's environment (dust, outside temperature, etc.),
- adaptation of the equipment to requirements.

When it monitors used oil, our laboratory will meet three objectives:

Qualify the state of the fluid: lubricant deterioration is usually caused by oxidation resulting from the combined effects of temperature and oxygen. The inspection involves monitoring the physical and chemical properties of the oil.
Qualify and quantify contamination of the lubricant which will be due to:
- water from refrigeration or condensation
- poorly topped-up oil
- internal leaks from mixing different products
- decomposition of internal elements (filters, paint, wear, etc.)
- the environment.
- …
Qualify and quantify the amount of wear by monitoring particle generation which could substantially increase due to the combined or separate effect of:
- fluid degradation
- contamination
- operating conditions.
