The IESPM laboratory was started in 1962, by a man who wanted greater transparency in engine and machine maintenance. His intention was to provide information on the behaviour of engines, gearboxes and bus and HGV axles.

IESPM is the result of a merger of two companies: ST2M, specialising in the automotive industry and founded in 1962, and EMS, founded in 1987 for industrial purposes. This merger made IESPM IESPM the independent leader in conditional preventive maintenance by lubricant analysis.
